Job Summary: Sonographer – General, Gynaecology, and Obstetrics

Location: Central London, UK
Contract Type: Full-Time / Part-Time

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Sonographer to join our state-of-the-art imaging department in Central London. In this role, you will be responsible for performing a wide variety of ultrasound examinations in General, Gynaecological, and Obstetric specialties. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for detail, an understanding of patient care, and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality diagnostic imaging.

Key Responsibilities:

  • General Ultrasound: Perform abdominal, renal, and soft tissue imaging.

  • Gynaecological Ultrasound: Conduct pelvic scans, follicle tracking, and assist with fertility assessments.

  • Obstetric Ultrasound: Carry out early pregnancy scans, anomaly scans, and growth scans, ensuring the best possible care for expectant mothers.

  • Produce clear, accurate, and high-quality diagnostic images to support clinical decision-making.

  • Communicate effectively with patients to explain procedures and ensure their comfort.

  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including radiologists and obstetricians, to provide comprehensive patient care.

  • Follow departmental protocols, ensuring all health and safety, patient care, and imaging guidelines are met.

  • Keep accurate and up-to-date records for all patient interactions.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

  • HCPC Registered Sonographer (or equivalent qualification).

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in performing General, Gynaecology, and Obstetrics ultrasound.

  • Strong ability to produce high-quality images and assist in diagnostic decision-making.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to put patients at ease and clearly explain procedures.

  • Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care, especially when working with pregnant women and patients experiencing sensitive conditions.

  • Proven ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience in 3D/4D ultrasound.

  • Experience working in a busy, patient-focused environment.

  • Ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting.

  • Knowledge of safeguarding and patient confidentiality protocols.
