Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Locum Stress Echocardiographer to join our Cardiology Department on a temporary basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing and reporting high-quality stress echocardiograms (exercise or pharmacological), alongside standard transthoracic echocardiography when required.
This role is ideal for an echocardiographer who is confident in independently performing stress echocardiography and interpreting results in real-time, with strong communication skills to work closely with cardiologists and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities:
Independently perform and report stress echocardiograms (dobutamine and/or exercise).
Conduct transthoracic echocardiograms (TTEs) as needed.
Ensure accurate and timely interpretation and documentation of results.
Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment according to departmental protocols.
Work collaboratively with cardiologists, technicians, and nursing staff.
Maintain high standards of patient care and safety throughout procedures.
Contribute to service efficiency by maintaining workflow and supporting colleagues.
Adhere to local and national guidelines (e.g., BSE standards).
Requirements:
BSc in Clinical Physiology (Cardiology) or equivalent.
Accreditation in echocardiography (e.g., BSE, EACVI, or equivalent) – essential.
Proven experience in performing and interpreting stress echocardiography – minimum 1–2 years.
Familiarity with modern echocardiography equipment (e.g., GE, Philips).
Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Right to work in [insert country – e.g., UK].
Desirable:
NHS experience (if UK-based).
Experience with contrast echocardiography.
Flexibility to work varied shifts or across multiple sites (if applicable).
