Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Locum Consultant Electrophysiologist to join a busy and well-established Cardiology department at a leading NHS Trust in London. The ideal candidate will contribute to the provision of high-quality care in cardiac electrophysiology, including inpatient and outpatient services, and complex EP procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform and interpret complex electrophysiological studies (EP studies) and ablations (e.g., SVT, AF, VT).
Implantation and follow-up of devices (ICDs, CRTs, pacemakers).
Collaborate with cardiology and cardiothoracic teams for integrated patient care.
Participate in ward rounds, clinics, and multidisciplinary team meetings.
Supervise junior doctors and contribute to teaching.
Ensure documentation and coding comply with NHS standards.
On-call duties (if applicable – typically as part of a cardiology rota).
Requirements:
GMC registration with a license to practise.
CCT in Cardiology or equivalent (or within 6 months of completion).
Subspecialty training and significant experience in Electrophysiology.
NHS experience preferred.
Right to work in the UK.
DBS clearance.
Desirable Skills:
Fellowship training in EP or equivalent.
Proficiency in 3D mapping systems (e.g., CARTO, EnSite).
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Research or audit experience in electrophysiology.
