Position Summary:
This Echocardiographer is responsible for performing diagnostic cardiac ultrasound procedures (echocardiograms) to assist physicians in diagnosing and monitoring various heart conditions. The role requires high-level knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology, technical expertise with ultrasound equipment, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a clinical environment and is based in Chesterield.

Key Responsibilities:
• Perform transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE), stress echocardiograms, and transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE) as required.
• Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, ensuring proper settings and image quality.
• Analyse and interpret ultrasound data to provide preliminary technical assessments.
• Work closely with cardiologists and other healthcare providers to deliver accurate and timely results.
• Document patient history, procedures, and technical findings in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
• Ensure patient safety, privacy, and comfort during procedures.
• Maintain equipment cleanliness and follow infection control protocols.
• Participate in continuing education and stay updated on advances in echocardiography and cardiac imaging.

Qualifications:
• Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Cardiovascular Technology, or related field.
• Certification: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) through ARDMS or RCS through CCI required.
• Experience: 1–2 years of echocardiography experience preferred (new grads with clinical rotations may be considered).
• Skills:
o Proficiency in cardiac anatomy, pathology, and ultrasound physics
o Strong communication and interpersonal skills
o Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment
o Competency with EMR and PACS systems

Working Conditions:
• May involve long periods of standing and moving ultrasound equipment.
• Exposure to bodily fluids and infectious diseases; PPE required.
• Some evening or weekend shifts may be required depending on department needs.
