IMC Locums are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Band 6 Locum Cardiac Physiologist to support our Cardiology service in Watford.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Assessment:
- Conduct thorough evaluations of patients requiring cardiac pacing.
- Review medical histories and perform pre-procedural assessments.
- Device Implantation and Follow-Up:
- Assist in the implantation of pacing devices (e.g., pacemakers, ICDs).
- Participate in device programming and follow-up consultations to monitor device performance and patient outcomes.
- Technical Skills:
- Operate and troubleshoot cardiac pacing equipment and software.
- Perform device interrogations to ensure proper functioning and analyze data.
- Patient Education:
- Educate patients and their families about pacing devices, including care, potential complications, and lifestyle changes.
- Provide support and reassurance to patients undergoing procedures.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with cardiologists, surgeons, and nursing staff to ensure seamless care delivery.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient management strategies.
- Quality Control and Assurance:
- Adhere to departmental protocols and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Participate in audits and contribute to the development of best practices and guidelines.
- Professional Development:
- Engage in continuous professional development to stay updated with advancements in cardiac pacing technology and therapies.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: Typically requires a relevant degree in cardiac physiology, biomedical science, or a related field. Additional certifications in cardiac pacing and electrophysiology can be advantageous.
- Experience: Experience in a clinical environment, particularly in cardiology, is often required. Familiarity with cardiac devices is essential.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of cardiac physiology, electrophysiology, and medical imaging techniques.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for patient interaction and documentation.
- Teamwork: Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and collaborate with colleagues to provide high-quality patient care.
