Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Locum Devices Cardiologist to support the Cardiology Department in Sutton. The post-holder will focus on the management of patients with implantable cardiac devices, including follow-up clinics, device interrogation, and involvement in implantation procedures where appropriate.

This is an excellent opportunity to work with a dynamic cardiology team in a busy, well-equipped tertiary (or district general) hospital, delivering high-quality care to patients requiring cardiac rhythm management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct outpatient clinics for device follow-up and troubleshooting (pacemakers, ICDs, CRT-P/CRT-D).
  • Participate in or supervise device implantation and replacement procedures, depending on local policy and experience.
  • Interpret remote device monitoring data and act on clinical findings.
  • Provide specialist advice on complex device programming and arrhythmia management.
  • Liaise with EP consultants, device physiologists, and heart failure teams.
  • Participate in MDTs and contribute to patient management decisions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in patient records.
  • Participate in on-call rota (if applicable).

Essential Requirements:

  • Full GMC registration with a license to practise.
  • CCT in Cardiology (or equivalent training and experience).
  • Subspecialty expertise in Cardiac Devices / Electrophysiology.
  • Demonstrated competence in device implantation and/or device clinic management.
  • Up-to-date training in Advanced Life Support (ALS).
  • Right to work in the UK.

Desirable:

  • Accreditation in EHRA or IBHRE (device/EP certification).
  • NHS experience.
  • Experience with remote monitoring platforms (e.g., Medtronic CareLink, Merlin, Biotronik Home Monitoring).
