Locum Electrophysiologist – London
Role Overview
A locum Consultant Cardiologist specialising in Cardiac Electrophysiology, providing temporary but vital cover to support ongoing arrhythmia services . This position helps maintain continuity of care during periods of staff leave or transition.
Key Responsibilities
EP Procedures & Device Work: Independently perform both simple and complex electrophysiology studies and ablations, as well as device implantations (pacemakers, ICDs, CRTs) and follow-ups.
Clinical Leadership & Training: Provide clinical, procedural, and administrative support in the EP service; supervise and teach junior physiologists and trainees.
Cross-Functional Support: Assist with PCI and diagnostic angiography as needed, and help with strategic development of electrophysiology services.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
Full GMC registration.
Entry on the Specialist Register in Cardiovascular Medicine (or within 6 months of CCT).
MRCP or equivalent and completed core cardiology competencies.
Extensive experience in invasive and non-invasive electrophysiology, complex device implantation, and rhythm management.
Desirable Attributes:
Experience with 3D mapping systems and teaching roles.
Academic or leadership experience in developing EP services.
Working Conditions
Duration: Fixed-term locum engagement (typically several months; negotiable based on need).
Hours: Full-time (typically 37.5 hrs/week) including on-call responsibility; part-time options may be considered.
