πŸ” Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Locum Cardiac Physiologist to join a leading hospital in Newcastle. The successful candidate will support invasive and non-invasive cardiac investigations, with a focus on Cath Lab procedures and cardiac rhythm management. You’ll work alongside cardiologists, nurses, and other physiologists to provide high-quality diagnostic and interventional services.


πŸ› οΈ Key Responsibilities:

πŸ₯ Invasive Cardiology (Cath Lab):

  • Assist or lead in cardiac catheterisation (e.g., PCI, angiography)

  • Set up and monitor haemodynamic recording systems

  • Provide technical support during pacemaker, ICD, and CRT device implants

  • Participate in electrophysiological studies and ablations (if qualified)

  • Perform intra-procedural device testing and follow-up

πŸ“ˆ Non-Invasive Cardiac Investigations:

  • Perform and interpret 12-lead ECGs, Holter monitors, BP monitoring

  • Conduct exercise tolerance testing (ETT) and tilt table tests

  • Support echo clinics (if trained), stress echo, and bubble contrast studies

πŸ’¬ Reporting & Communication:

  • Accurately document and report all diagnostic tests

  • Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams

  • Participate in MDT meetings as required


πŸ“‹ Requirements:

Essential:

  • BSc in Clinical Physiology (Cardiology) or equivalent

  • Minimum 2 years post-graduate experience in Cath Lab or device implantation

  • Proficient in pacemaker, ICD, and CRT follow-ups and programming

  • Eligible to work in the UK (right to work & valid DBS check)

Desirable:

  • RCCP/HCPC registration

  • IBHRE, HRUK, or BHRS accreditation

  • Experience in EP studies or device clinics

  • Familiarity with systems like Philips, GE, Medtronic, Abbott, Boston Scientific
