Position: Histopathology Advanced Senior Biomedical Scientist
Job Summary:
Our London based Client is looking for a Biomedical Scientist to join a dynamic team and contribute to the smooth operation of our state-of-the-art laboratory, ensuring the timely provision of high-quality histopathology services. Build strong working relationships with fellow Senior BMS professionals, histology staff, and the senior leadership team. Take on additional responsibilities as specified.
Working Pattern:
Monday – Friday, 37.5 hours per week. Weekend Rota participation is compulsory.
Main Responsibilities:
·Ensure specimens are received, processed, cut, stained, and dispatched to the highest standards within agreed turnaround times.
·Participate in workload management, ensuring quality and accuracy.
·Lead as the Senior BMS for Training, overseeing IBMS Portfolios.
·Organize and supervise MLA’s, MTO’s & BMS’.
·Undertake necessary training for professional development.
·Use and maintain histology equipment in compliance with departmental policies.
·Adhere to Health and Safety regulations and safe laboratory procedures.
·Participate in specimen dissection.
·Contribute to the annual staff appraisal process.
Qualifications:
·HCPC registered BMS.
·Member of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences.
Skills/Abilities:
·Work well under pressure.
·Ability to prioritise and lead.
·Use own initiative as a senior member of the laboratory.
·Willing to mentor and contribute to staff development.
Experience:
·Must have prior experience in a histology laboratory.
·Broad skill set developed through histology experience.
·4+ years post-state registration
Knowledge:
·Solid knowledge of histological techniques.
·Familiarity with Health & Safety code of practice.
·Experience using laboratory-based IT systems.
·Experience with accreditation processes.
·Specialist cut-up/specimen dissection experience.
Disposition:
·Flexible.
·Perform well under pressure and meet deadlines.
·Ability to train other staff on standard operating procedures.
·Commitment to personal CPD.
·Passionate about providing high-level service and achieving excellent results.

·Maintain total confidentiality regarding patient details.
·Ability to remain GDPR compliant.
