Job Title: Toxicology Deputy Laboratory Manager
Location: Norwich,
Our client is a private lab based in Norwich, and We are currently seeking a Deputy Toxicology Laboratory Manager to lead our toxicology laboratory in Norwich, England. This role places a specific emphasis on gas chromatography, mass spectrometry, and liquid chromatography techniques. If you have a degree in toxicology or chemistry, a proven track record in toxicology laboratory management, and experience working within accredited laboratory settings, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Toxicology Deputy Laboratory Manager, you will:
·Manage and oversee day-to-day laboratory operations, focusing on gas chromatography, mass spectrometry, and liquid chromatography techniques, to ensure efficient and accurate testing processes.
·Define and establish processes necessary for gaining various laboratory accreditations. Develop and implement laboratory processes, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and quality control measures to maintain regulatory compliance and accreditation standards.
·Supervise a team of laboratory technicians and scientists, offering guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
·Plan and allocate resources effectively, including personnel, equipment, and consumables, to meet laboratory testing demands and timelines.
·Ensure the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment, particularly gas chromatography, mass spectrometry, and liquid chromatography instruments.
·Collaborate with other departments and external stakeholders to develop and implement research projects and new analytical methodologies.
·Stay updated with industry advancements, emerging trends, and regulatory changes in toxicology and laboratory management.
·Monitor and assess laboratory performance metrics, analyze data, and implement corrective actions as necessary to maintain high-quality standards.
·Operate within an accredited laboratory, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
·Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including the proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
·Provide expert reporting for toxicology reports, offering insights and interpretations based on the analysis conducted.
·Maintain accurate documentation, records, and reports, including laboratory documentation, test results, and quality assurance documentation.
·Uphold a high level of professionalism and expertise in drug and alcohol toxicology.
Qualifications and Experience:
The ideal candidate should have:
·A minimum of a degree in toxicology or chemistry, with advanced degrees in these fields being highly desirable.
·A minimum of five years of professional experience in drug and alcohol toxicology.
·Proven experience in managing a toxicology laboratory, with proficiency in gas chromatography, mass spectrometry, and liquid chromatography techniques.
·Strong understanding and experience in defining and establishing processes for laboratory accreditations.
·Familiarity with operating within an accredited laboratory, such as ISO 17025 or equivalent.
·Strong knowledge of toxicology principles, analytical techniques, and laboratory instrumentation.
·Excellent organizational and leadership skills, including the ability to effectively manage a team and prioritize tasks.
·Proficiency in data analysis, interpretation, and quality control practices.
·Attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
·Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders effectively.
·Experience in expert reporting for toxicology reports would be highly advantageous.
·Membership in the International Society of Hair Testing International is highly desirable.
·Published papers on the subject of Hair Strand Testing for Drugs and Alcohol is an advantage.
