We have a fantastic opportunity for a locum Speech and Language Therapist to join a leading teaching hospital, based in London. They are seeking a qualified SALT with previous acute experience covering a range of different specialities across Neuro.
Job Description
•3 month (minimum) locum assignment to start as soon as possible
•The successful candidate will be working within a strong team.
•37.5 hours a week full-time cover
•To undertake the assessment of patients using investigative and analytical skills.
•To formulate an individual management and/or treatment programme, using clinical reasoning skills and a range of treatment skills.
•To evaluate patient progress, reassess and alter treatment programmes as required.
•To use outcome measures to monitor the effectiveness of treatment.
•To maintain comprehensive and accurate patient records in line with legal and departmental requirements.
•To accept clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of patients, and to organise this efficiently and effectively with regard to clinical priorities and use of time with supervision.
•To be responsible for equipment used during interventions. This includes competence in the safe use of equipment and the assessment and management of associated clinical risks.
•To assess and prescribe appropriate equipment, demonstrate its use, identify any potential risks and teach necessary techniques to ensure patient safety.
•To undertake and advise on moving and handling of patients and apply manual handling techniques to assess and treat patients.
Position Requirements
•HCPC Registered
•Minimum of 2 years postgraduate experience depending on band level.
•Previous clinical experience performing a similar role within an acute setting
•knowledge in treating patients with respiratory conditions
•Previous experience in Pulmonary/Cardiac Rehabilitation
