We have a fantastic opportunity for a locum Occupational Therapist to join a leading teaching hospital, based in London. They are seeking a qualified Occupational Therpist with previous Neurology experience.

Job Description

  • 6 month (minimum) locum assignment to start 5th December 2022
  • Full time hours (Monday – Friday)
  • The successful candidate will be working within a strong team.
  • Provide an occupational therapy assessment and treatment service to clients with acquired brain injury on the Regional Neurological Rehabilitation Unit.
  • Provide clinical supervision and appraisal for Band 5 occupational therapists, therapy assistants and students.
  • Participate in on going service development, including in-service training and professional development.
  • The post holder will be working in a challenging socio-economic environment, involving patients who have highly complex social problems and those from culturally diverse backgrounds.

Position Requirements

  • HCPC Registered
  • Undertake holistic client centred specialist occupational therapy assessment, treatment and evaluation of patients / clients with complex physical, cognitive, perceptual and challenging behavioural presentations as an autonomous practitioner.
  • Be able to independently evaluate progress and adapt therapy interventions as appropriate, utilising specialist knowledge and expertise.
  • Analyse and clinically reason the risk assessment required for the physical moving and handling of complex, dependent patients / clients to further their rehabilitation.
  • Be skilled in effective communication with patients / clients with speech, cognitive and behavioural problems, including those where English is not their first language.
  • The post holder will undertake patient / client home visits independently or with other health professionals to assess for the risks relating to safe discharge home, provision of therapy intervention and suitability of the property for access.
