Role Overview
IMC Group are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Speech and Language Therapist for a client in Hampshire, Focusing on supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs. This role provides an exciting opportunity for a Band 5/6/7SLT to work in an educational or clinical setting, developing your skills in SEN support. You will deliver assessments, create tailored therapy plans, and provide interventions to support children and young people in improving their communication abilities and social interaction skills.

Key Responsibilities
Assessment and Diagnosis: Conduct initial assessments and ongoing evaluations for children and young people with communication difficulties, including speech, language, and social communication needs.
Individualized Therapy Plans: Design and implement individualized therapy and intervention plans, ensuring they align with the unique needs of each client.
Direct Therapy and Intervention: Provide 1:1 or small-group therapy sessions, targeting specific language and communication challenges.
Collaborative Working: Work closely with teachers, SEN staff, parents, and multidisciplinary team members to provide a holistic approach to the child’s therapy.
Training and Support: Deliver training and guidance to school staff, parents, and carers to support communication development outside of therapy sessions.
Monitoring and Documentation: Track and document progress, adjusting intervention plans as needed, and maintaining accurate case notes.
Advocacy: Support and advocate for the communication needs of children and young people, contributing to multi-agency meetings, including EHCP reviews.

Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent.
Registration with the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council).
RCSLT Membership
Some experience or placements involving children with SEN is preferred, but new graduates with relevant training and enthusiasm for SEN work are encouraged to apply.

Ability to adapt communication style to meet the needs of different children and young people.

Desirable Skills
Experience in a school or clinical setting supporting children with SEN.
Knowledge of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) tools.

Knowledge:
Knowledge of a range of therapeutic approaches
Knowledge of relevant assessment tools
Knowledge of a range of approaches to assestment, intervention and outcomes relevent to children and young people with ASC or SEMH
Knowledge of current policies relating to health, social and education
Knowledge of clinical governance
Awareness of evidence-based practice relevant to children and young adultswith ASC or SEMH
Knowledge of standards of record keeping
Knowledge of Safeguarding policies and procedures
Knowledge of child developmen

Skills / abilities
Able to work independently with recofnised role seeking support as needed
Able to accept and provide line management for therapists and/or clinical supervision of other spreech and language
Able to build robust working relashionships with a range of complex stakeholders withing and outside the organisation
Able to organise and prioritise self and worload
Able to work as part of a team
Ability to make decisions
Able to maintain accurate notes
Able to communicate clearly and sensitively with students, parents, carers and professionals
A high degree of personal, interpersonal, organisational, communication and administrative
skills including initiative, diplomacy, influencing, discretion and a professional approach
